Certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner
Foundation for Human Enrichment
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice at Harmony – A Family Counseling Center. My areas of specialization are trauma resolution, depression and anxiety. Trauma is not only limited to physical and emotional abuse but includes events like car accidents, falling and pre- and peri-natal birth events. I work with trauma using Somatic Experiencing®, a cutting-edge trauma healing intervention. Somatic Experiencing® offers a new and hopeful vision of trauma work: the ability to heal without reliving or re-enacting the event.
My other special interests include “Dream Tending,” using elements of Jungian psychology, attending to and supporting the dream to bring a sense of purpose to the dream experience. I also enjoy supervision of intern therapists.
I joined Harmony after serving as a contract therapist at Interface Community Clinics, and at Oxnard School District’s Harrington Healthy Start Family Center, where I am still on staff. I received my professional training at Phillips Graduate Institute, where I was awarded a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition, I hold a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from Columbia University Teachers College, and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Keene State College. In September 2006, I completed a three-year post-graduate program in Somatic Experiencing® achieving certification as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner.
I hold professional memberships in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Ventura County Chapter of CAMFT.
